Cookie Policy

Last updated Friday, 16th October 2026

This website uses cookies to make the site work and to understand how people use it. This policy explains what they do and how you can control them.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small files saved to your device when you visit a website. Some are needed for basic functions, while others help website owners understand visits and improve the site. Similar browser storage may also be used to remember your choices.

Which cookies does this site use?

Essential and preference cookies (Squarespace)

These support basic website security and functions, and remember your cookie choices. Examples include Crumb (a session security cookie) and ss_performancecookiesAllowed / ss_marketingcookiesAllowed (which remember choices for up to 30 days). Essential cookies cannot normally be switched off through the banner.

Squarespace analytics cookies

These help me understand website visitors and traffic. Examples include ss_cid, ss_cpvisit and ss_cvr (up to two years), and ss_cvisit and ss_cvt (around 30 minutes).

Google Analytics 4 cookies

Google Analytics helps me see how the website performs, such as visits, pages viewed and traffic sources. Examples include _ga and _ga_* (normally up to two years, although browser and account settings may shorten this).

The site may also use security or spam-prevention technology in connection with forms. The particular cookies used can change if Squarespace or connected services update their systems.

Advertising cookies

Squarespace includes an Advertising option in its standard cookie preferences. I don't currently use advertising or retargeting cookies on this website.

Squarespace activity log

Separately from cookies, Squarespace provides a rolling seven-day log of site visits, which can show pages visited, referral details, IP address and approximate location. I use this to understand website traffic. See my Privacy Policy for information about how personal data is handled.

Your cookie choices

When you first visit the website, the cookie banner lets you accept all, decline all or manage non-essential cookies. Optional analytics cookies are restricted unless you accept them. You can revisit your choices using the cookie-preferences control on the website, and you can also manage or remove cookies in your browser settings.

Declining analytics cookies will not stop you from using the site, although it means some visit statistics may be less complete.

Questions or changes

For questions about cookies, email me or use my Contact page. This policy will be updated if the website adds new tools or services, including online purchases.
